Biogas plants for every household

Biogas has enormous potential to change things for the better. In cooperation with the People in Need foundation, we have helped several communities in western Zambia to build domestic biogas plants.

Thanks to their own biogas production, local families have stopped using wood and charcoal for cooking and lighting, significantly reducing deforestation in the area. Additionally, they have access to bio-slurry, which they use as fertilizer on their fields and gardens. Through this initiative, we have supported sustainable living in communities that are most affected by poverty. We are proud to have been part of this great initiative and thank the People in Need organization for this opportunity.

How do biogas plants work? A biogas station looks like a concrete dome built underground. Farmers fill it with animal manure and organic waste from households, and through biological decomposition, gas for cooking and lighting is produced inside. As a byproduct, bio-slurry is created, which can be used as organic fertilizer."
