Emission Values and Biofuel Prices – Our Presentation at the Krajowe Izby Biopaliw Conference

This year, we once again received an invitation to the Krajowe Izby Biopaliw Conference, which took place on September 24–25 at the Arche Hotel Nałęczów. At the conference, Dalibor Delong together with Marcin Sikora from our Polish branch gave a presentation on the topic: “Comparison of raw material emission values according to NUTS II, NUTS III and DDV and analysis of the impact of emissions on biofuel prices.”

The presentation provided a detailed view of the differences in calculating the carbon footprint of biofuels and the resulting revenues from biofuel sales. Special attention was given to how the results of carbon footprint calculations vary depending on the methodology used.

Total Default Values (TDV) provide general indicative data for the entire raw material processing chain. They are easy to apply but less accurate and relatively high compared to other values.

Disaggregated Default Values (DDV) are tabulated emission values for individual processing stages, which can be combined with calculated values or NUTS values. The NUTS II and NUTS III methodologies are based on regional statistics and highlight the impact of local conditions on the emissions from raw material cultivation. The highest level of accuracy is achieved by using Actual Values (AV), which reflect a specific supply chain and the real practices of producers.

We would like to thank the organizers for the opportunity to share our expertise and we look forward to further discussions on the development of the biofuels market in Poland and across Europe.
