The official announcement has just been released, stating that the launch date of November 21, 2024, for the Union Database (UDB) is not binding. Instead, each member state's position will be decisive. If the proposal is approved by the Czech Parliament in the coming days, it will apply to liquid fuels starting January 1, 2025, and to gaseous fuels a year later.

At the Slovak Biogas Association Conference titled "The Future of Slovak Biogas 2024," we had the opportunity to present our experiences regarding the sales and distribution options for biomethane. During the third session, focused on the transformation to biomethane, Dalibor Delong, our expert from REX Solutions, delivered a presentation on this topic.

We would like to thank the Czech Biogas Association for the invitation to their traditional conference in Třeboň, where experts in renewable energy gather annually. Dalibor Delong's presentation attracted significant interest, particularly due to his detailed talk titled "Biomethane in Transport, or Else?".

Our company has recently achieved a significant milestone – we have now served over 300 clients. Among our customers are heating plants, power plants, fuel companies, biogas plant operators, and biomass suppliers themselves.

In today's business environment, adhering to ESG criteria (Environmental, Social, Governance) is becoming increasingly important. Starting in 2024, companies that exceed certain criteria (size, turnover, number of employees) will be required to include so-called non-financial reporting on activities related to environmental protection, social responsibility, and corporate governance in their annual reports.

In January of this year, a new regulation came into effect, sparking a wave of discontent and debate among experts. The regulation mandated that a constant value of 4.25 gCO2eq/MJ must be added to the emissions associated with the transport of biomethane through the gas network.

Another successful conference regarding the production and sale of biomethane with our Slovak neighbors. This time, the event was organized by the Slovak Gas and Oil Association, and the theme is "How to Support the Development of Biomethane in Slovakia."

This Wednesday, we gathered for a company-wide training session of REX Solutions, which was held for the first time in our new office premises in Mnichovo Hradiště. This event was not only an opportunity for personal interaction and exchange of experiences but also a crucial moment for sharing important information regarding the latest legislative changes.

We are pleased to be at the forefront of a new project in the field of renewable energy resources. Our client, Honest, specializing in sustainability and environmental protection, with its primary activity being the processing of animal fats for the production of biofuels, has launched a pilot project for collecting used vegetable-based cooking oil (UCO).

We are delighted to announce the official opening of our new office in the center of Mnichovo Hradiště (Masaryk Square 276) and we are attaching a few photos from Friday's ceremonial opening, which was a great success.

In recent weeks, we had the opportunity to collaborate with an unnamed company from Western Europe on an interesting project focusing on mapping biogas production in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, with the output being an assessment of the potential for biomethane production in these two markets.

In the past year of 2023, our company achieved several significant milestones that helped advance our services and propel us forward. What were our focus areas in 2023, and what new endeavors do we have in store for 2024?

This week, we completed a study for Petruska company, which is one of the largest domestic B2B fruit drying facilities (the product is further used in the production of cereal bars, etc.). In the initial phase, we conducted a comprehensive analysis of energy inputs according to the GHG Protocol methodology. This analysis enabled us to identify key factors influencing the carbon footprint of producing 1 kg of dried fruit and to propose measures to reduce it.

Interest in biomethane is growing in Ukraine as well. On November 17th, we participated in the UABIO Fridays project organized by the Ukrainian Biogas Association UABIO.

The week before last, we attended the Czech Biogas Association conference in Třeboň, where we gave a lecture on "Monetizing Emission Savings from Produced Biomethane."

Nothing beats in-person meetings and the opportunity to share practical experiences. During our meeting in Pacov, we discussed various topics with our colleagues from REX Solutions, including the upcoming RED III regulations and their impact on our clients.

The Central Wastewater Treatment Plant (CWWTP) in Bubeneč launched the pilot operation of a project on Friday, aimed at upgrading sewage sludge biogas into BioCNG. We are pleased to be part of this project and assist the Prague Waterworks and Sewerage Company with the certification of the sustainability of the produced BioCNG.

The EU will allocate 18 billion euros for the development of biogas in the coming years. The European Biogas Association subsequently provided an overview of the allocation of these funds at the national level in its publication, the 1st EBA Biomethane Investment Outlook. 

Today we actively participated in a seminar on ESG issues in the field of waste/circular economy organized by the Czech Waste Management Association (ČAOH) for its members.

UDB is a bit like the Yeti. It is talked about a lot, but few have seen it, yet its impact on the business of companies in the biofuels industry will be enormous and it is about to start. Therefore, we have extracted the most important information for our customers from the little that currently exists about UDB.

Another beautiful project is becoming a reality. One of the first biogas stations certified for biomethane production is the biogas plant of Compag Mladá Boleslav. We are honored that our company, REX Solutions, was able to be a part of it and provided complete consulting services for the project preparation and certification sustainability service

Yesterday, students from Mnichovo Hradiště Gymnasium welcomed their peers from Portugal, who spent the entire week here as part of the Erasmus program.

Biogas has enormous potential to change things for the better. In cooperation with the People in Need foundation, we have helped several communities in western Zambia to build domestic biogas plants.
